System Center is a collection of products designed to help IT professionals configure and manage applications, services, computers, and virtual machines. Each System Center product lets IT professionals manage more of their IT environment than they would be able to otherwise. Most people are familiar with System Center's Operations Manager and Configuration Manager; however, System Center 2012 is composed of a total of eight components:
• Configuration Manager
• Endpoint Protection
• Service Manager
• Data Protection Manager
Configuration Manager increases IT productivity and efficiency by reducing manual tasks and letting you focus on: high-value projects, maximizing hardware and software investments, and empowering end-user productivity by providing the right software at the right time.
Service Manager provides an integrated platform for automating and adapting your organization’s IT service management best practices, such as those found in Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). It provides built-in processes for incident and problem resolution, change control, and asset life cycle management.
• Virtual Machine Manager
• Application Controller
• Operations Manager
Operations Manager enables you to monitor: services, devices, and operations for many computers in a single console and gain rapid insight into the state of the IT environment and services running across different systems and workloads.
Orchestration is the collective name for the automated arrangement, coordination, and management of systems, software, and practices. It enables the management of complex cross-domain processes and provides the tools for orchestration to combine software, hardware, and manual processes into a seamless system.
